All that you need to start with Burster is the Blender 3D editor and a web page. New users will be prompted by the web browser to download the Burster plugin, then immerse themselves in amazing interactive 2D / 3D content. The rest depends only on your imagination.
Why Blender player is not enough?
Blender is a opensource and free tool for 3D modeling. But Blender is not only the editor. Blender is modern game engine which makes game creation process fast and easy. It contains game logic bricks that enables you to create interactive 3D scenes without programming skills. And what if you are skilled programmer? As was mentioned above, Blender is opensource software and it is licensed on GPL v2. This is the good and bad thing. Although game or presentation source files created using Blender aren't covered by GPL v2 license, you can't use them commercially. Why? Because if you want somebody to see your 3D scene in action you should supply your file with blenderplayer or embed your file in blenderplayer. In first case you provide source file with blenderplayer - which means that anybody can see it, use it, change it and sell it. In second case, your blender file compiled into blenderplayer is infected by the GPL v2 license and you are obligated to provide the source of your files to anyone who asks for it.
Opensource is very good idea but corporations, companies or generally bussines environment will not invest their money into something that can't be their protected property.
The Burster plugin is free and open source and its source code is covered by GPL license.
With Burster plugin you can use the BursterEncode utility which uses certificate to encrypt Your Blender source file. The encrypted file becomes unreadable by Blender software but Burster plugin can read it. The certificate is not free because we assume that you want to protect the blender source files and you would like to sell it or use in other way to earn money. The certificate is very very cheap. But if you don't need the certificate and you don't need to encrypt your files - there is no problem with that. You can still use The Burster plugin with plain Blender source files, hence anyone can download the file and use it.

The Burster plugin resolves two major problems that was keeping the Blender from being accepted in business environments. Firstly, Burster allows you to put your Blender Game Engine file at your website. You do not have to record the (very big) movie, upload into the Youtube to show someone what great thing you have done. Secondly, you do not need to worry that someone will use your work without your knowledge. The blender source files could be now encrypted using very strong cryptographic algorithm. This alows you to sell your interactive 3D content without worrying about protecting the property. What about licensing? The Blender source files aren't covered by GPL v2 license so you can do with them whatever you want. The Burster plugin uses blenderplayer as external process, so Burster is not Blender's derivative - although it is still opensource software on GPL. One part of Burster plugin is closed and licensed with very restrictive license - the decode module - which is a shared library.
